While listening to a Mother’s Day sermon in her church in Washington State in 1909, Sonora Dodd thought about the fine job her father had done in raising his six children after their mother had died. Because her father had been born in June, she encouraged area churches to honor fathers during that month. Through her efforts, the first Father’s Day was celebrated in Spokane, Washington in June 1910. Check out the websites below to tap into the world of fathering.
