Daddy, you never thought you'd ever have a child. And now you are here with me, loving and accepting me for who I am. You have given me everything I could have asked for...just by being you. You are kind and gentle, loving and strong, you take care of me and hold my hand. Thank you for staying up late with me at night and for helping to guide me in the right direction in my life. When I was but a tiny soul in heaven up above, I was told by God above, that you were to be my father and I was to be your son. There was a purpose and a meaning and a mission to be done
It took some doing and some help from and Angel or two
but love eternal, brought you and Moma back together again
God had his reason, believe in this you see for he knew this bond between us three, was formed in
Eternity. The day I came into this world, you were there. . you changed my diaper and held me, looking at me with your eyes filled with love. You secretly told me that you would always love and
protect me. . .Though just a newborn, did you know I heard your heart speak to me? You were part of my world the first 10 months of my life. You took me to my first zoo, and gave me your love I couldn't keep. Then, you sailed away . . off into the deep blue sea. I missed you on my first birthday, Christmas, and other holidays. . .I missed you the day I took my first steps, and now I want to run. . . I want to run to your arms and make you proud of me as I will always be of you. Now as Father's Day is near, I miss you even more. I pray the light of my love will guide you back home to me one day and you are safe "somewhere out there" across the sea. "'I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always. It's rather quite comical that as I sit at my computer reminiscing about my father, those chores I hated as a child are part of my fonder memories as an adult. Trimming the hedge, working in the yard, and numerous errands to run enabled Daddy and I to spend time together talking. As I grew into a typical teenager, I couldn't get far enough away from my parents to conquer the world, after all at that age, I just knew I was smarter than them (little did I know, I was at one of the dumbest points in my life.) As I matured into an adult and became a mother, I realized just how much my Daddy and Mother had guided me, educated me, and allowed me to grow into the adult I am today. Now at the age of 34, I am privileged to work with my father, who is a retired school teacher and administrator, in our family-owned child care center. I find myself many times throughout the day saying his infamous quotes, repeating his stories, and carrying his demeanor - most children would probably die to think they've turned into their parents, but I'm proud of it and chuckle to myself when others say, "Wow, you are just like your Dad!" I love the quote, "Anybody can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Daddy." If I live to be 100 years old, my father will always be "MY DADDY" because he is someone special!
