Go 4-th and Celebrate

This is the day we celebrate what a wonderful country we have! On July 4, 1776 we declared our independence from England. That day saw the beginning of a journey that has brought us through struggles and adversity to become the proud and strong nation we are today.

Our family is enjoying a new tradition. We go to our family farm and enjoy great food, company and fireworks at dusk. It is a great time.

The best 4th parade is in Racine, Wisconsin with a 2 hour event and beats any parade I've ever been to. I have gone to this parade each year since I was a child and for being a midwest city it has impressive patriotism and the floats are well designed and sponsored by large companies that spare no expense!!! It is a must see for everyone!!!!!

In addition to local parades, BBQ's, picnics, and fireworks the community of Lake St. Louis, MO enjoys a ski show on the lake. The talents are provided by members of our ski team, ranging in age from 5 years to senior citizens.

In 1976 I was stationed in Korea. I remember the 2 US Army Captains who were murdered with axes by a North Korean patrol. The Captains were supervising a South Korean contingent pruning trees in the DMZ. - Also, I remember our armed forces in support of Iraq, Afghanistan and freedom in the events of today.

We save our Christmas Tree in the back yard until the Fourth of July and then we use it for a bonfire to celebrate and to sit around, cooking hot dogs, and recalling past Independence Days. All this after attending a fireworks display in town.
